This is to inform people that we will be moving to beerbeer.org on the 1 July. Sure you will ask that why we choose .org and not .com or .net. There are 2 version, one is the truth and the other one is the bullshit.

I prefer the bullshit version, here it goes. We want to make beerbeer so big that it’s a organisation of the world. Beerbeer will conquer every pub in every corner of the world. It’s an organisation that beer drinker and beer lover will like to join. That’s why we choose .org. Why not .org.my? because we are going international. Our first stop will be in Singapore. So hope we can write something fun for it.
On why we moved to the new site, because previously when we started it just to test out the wordpress software, as the more we write, the more we get into it, and viola, more and more people visit our site. During the peak we can reach up to 30, although is not a big crowd compare to Che Det that have 1 million visit in a month. We still got a long way to go.
Hopefully, we can provide you more interesting post and more new article will add in, like interviews, places and beer test will be added in slowly. This will make you have more reason to to visit us. So remember to log in to beerbeer.org this 1 July. Cheers!!!

In Malaysia, we often laugh at the muslim and said, the only beer they can drink is Root Beer. I write this post because in one of the forum, they actually write that Malaysian’s favourite beer is Root Beer. Is an insult to beer lover and beer drinker. So I went to wikipedia to find out more about this drink.

To my suprise, Root Beer is actually a beer. There is 2 type of root beer, one contains alcohol and the other doesn’t. Root Beer doesn’t have the high level of alcohol compare to the normal beer, only 0.4% of alcohol. If I’m not mistaken, this is even lower then Shandy? To be honest I love to drink Root Beer and the only place I drink is in A&W. Many didn’t notice, as in A&W they do serve Root Beer in Pine or Mug from the draught, and the Root Bear actually got a big beer belly.

So I guess, I’m wrong about this drink. It is true that Malaysia best beer is Root Beer. Hold on a minute here, what am I saying, Root Beer without alcohol is just a carbonated drink, is no more better then coke or sprite. So in this case Root Beer without alcohol is not a beer, and for that Malaysia favourite beer is still Carlsberg. For those who treat drinking Root Beer like beer, I’m so sorry. For the rest of beer drinker Cheers!

Whatever the occasion, Chinese will always go yum sing. In english, it simply means cheers during a toast. In writing you will simply hear YUUUUUUUUUM(hold as long as possible) SING (to end it). You will hear groups of them shouting YUM SING to the top of their voices especially during weddings. Great CHEER. I once taught the aussies this cheer and we used it in my cousins wedding… we had a great response. It is just not as simple as hip-hip hooray - Yum sing is used so widely by Malaysians, it has become an addiction in all weddings. I have experienced many ways of giving a toast but YUM SING to Malaysians simply just covers everything.
However to our Indian friends, this word of course does not exist… they simply use the english word DOWN (which means finish it
). Nevertheless, even they join in the fun everytime the chinese have a toast. Yes, i have to agree that the Indians are great beer consumers in Malaysia.
This word has often been misused as some Christians uses BLESSING…. I think if you should do it, do it original and not substitute the word. This word is not a curse, or even a word which means let us get drunk, it is just simply cheers.
So to you all out there…. to good health - YUM SING -

Curious what the topic is about. As I was searching what to post here, I go to design site to search nice bottle design. As the environment now is in total screw-up, I try to see any cool bottle that was created to cater for recycle purpose. To my surprise I found these.

Although it doesn’t really look appealing, but the purpose for this bottle is far more amazing. The bottle is called WOBO (world bottle). These Heineken beer bottles were created in 1963 by brewer Alfred Heineken and architect John Habraken specifically for re-use as bricks in Caribbean communities that lacked adequate building materials. Doesn’t that amazed you that this idea was created in 1963, more then 40 years ago. The idea come after Mr. Heineken’s visited to the Caribbean where he saw two problems: beaches littered with bottles and a lack of affordable building materials. Viola, there comes the WOBO bottle.

Today, the shed at the Heineken estate and a wall made of WOBO at the Heineken Museum in Amsterdam are the only structures where the WOBO bottle was used. The idea got heated a while with the production of about 100,000 of this bottle, but the company later scrap it.
To be honest, I really like the idea. Maybe the new age designer can help design better bottle, not only beer bottle but any kind of bottle that can save environment. Let’s us all take up our beer, and give respect to this idea. YammmSeng!

How much do you think I have to pay for a beer? At the rate things are, it is going to be hell a lot more. Firstly, a grad only earns RM1500 - RM2000 and beer is around RM5 in a supermarket or RM7.20 from Seven eleven. In Pubs they vary from RM5 a mug to RM20 mug and a keg of beer is around RM550. This are normal Malaysian produced beer like Carlsberg, Tiger, Heini… and others.
The current Malaysia tax on malted beer is RM 7.40 per litre (and 15% whatever that means, it is definitely bad) and additional 5% sales tax. By just selling beer, our big boys really need hell a lot of money to sell them what more making a profit. A std Malaysian can is 320ml would than be taxed @ RM 2.368 before the 15% thing whatever that means and additional 5% sales tax. Thankfully under the admin of our current PM, we have not had any additional taxes on beer. However, I am not suggesting anything. Whatever is said, the beer business is still big among manufacturers.

Having complaining, some businesses do give charity to beer lovers. we do have beer buffets to lessen our burden. In Bangsar (Gas works), we use to have RM30 drink from 6-9 free flow. Now, Avanti has food and beer free flow for less than RM40. Now that is great stuff.
Thankfully, Malaysians have places like Langkawi and Tioman where we can get dirt cheap beer… something like RM1.50 for our a good old beer. This place is what we term as alcohol haven as there is no tax for any damn thing. But over drinking the first day on your holiday is a no-no, as it will dull you down on the 2nd and 3rd :).
Anyway, enjoy the beer scene as it is still 2008!

I’m writing this on a guys perspective on why ladies don’t like beer. Out of 10 ladies I know 7 of them don’t like beer, the rest drink but not a beer person. So can said that almost all ladies don’t like beer, as if they can resolve to other alcoholic beverage they will change, example wine, champagne and their favourite cocktails.
I got a few reason why girls don’t like beer:
- the taste of bitterness, girl normally prefer sweet drink with fruity flavour
- beer always been guys drink (in our community), if a lady drink beer, she may look too masculine
- beer represent cool, most ladies want to present sexy and classy and not cool
- most beer are for badass, as we can see the Hong Kong gangster always use beer bottle in their fight
- the fear of getting beer belly, this is the favourite reason why ladies avoid beer.

I maybe wrong, as I just assume on a conclusion I made. There are a few ladies beer out there that are smooth and easy to drink. Firstly is Corona - with a twist of lime taste when you pop one into the bottle, taste smooth and easy to drink. Hoegaarden is another ladies drink as it’s not so bitter and still drinkable after it turn warm, as most ladies will only cling to a bottle a night, this will be a good choice. Even better if you go for the draught, it taste smooth, nice fragrance and good after taste. Lastly is Little Creatures with its fruity flavour, which is not easy to find in Malaysia. Maybe after drinking this beer the ladies may join our beer lovers club! Cheers!!!

A brewery in Japan successfully produce a low-malt beer with milk, after the drink was suggested as a product that would help use up surplus milk. It is reportedly that the beer has a fruity flavor. It’s targeted on women, as the fruity flavour is created for their taste.
The idea came after dairy firms threw out a huge amount of surplus milk every year. The son of the manager of a liquor store in Nakashibetsu, whose main industry is dairy farming, suggested the idea of producing the milk beer to local brewery Abashiri Beer. And hence forth the idea of milk + beer = bilk. The drink got the thumbs-up from 30-year-old resident Kaori Takahashi, who took part in a tasting session. “It’s got a fruity taste, so it will probably go well with sweets as well,” she said. Each 330 ml bottle costs 380 yen. For the time being sales will be restricted to Nakashibetsu, with six liquor stores selling the drink.

I’m not a big fan of milk, okay I don’t like milk at all. But because it’s a beer with milk + fruity flavour maybe I would laid down my hat and try it. Anyone of your drank this “bilk” before please do let me know how it taste like. Is interesting to see people mixing beer with milk, what’s next? Cheers!

I saw this picture in The Star newspaper on Monday 16 June, Page N51. Here the banner written Beer now cheaper than gas, how can it be? The person who took the picture won RM50 from The Star Thumbnails section. Not long I wrote about RM20.00 per liter of beer while gas only cost RM2.70. Unless the pub is really giving a cheap sales on their beer. If it’s true I better go check it out….haha. Anyone know where is this place? Let you know, ok! Cheers!!!

I have this believe that, if I drink beer, I can sleep sweetly all night long. A can of beer can make wonder in the lala land (I didn’t mean wet dream). But how about more then 1 can, how bout 2 or more?
If I drank a lot of beer, at night I tend to wake up because:
• my body heat is too hot, as my room don’t have air-cond, and it will be an unpleasant night.
• I’m dehydrated, and need to drink a lot of water. To make it easy, put a big water bottle next to your bed, so no need to walk to the kitchen to get the drink.
• too much of drink, water break to the loo is a must, that wake me up also. But after peeing, I would go back to sleep with dehydration, that will wake me up again just to grab a drink. sigh…
• worse scenario is hang over, especially after vomit, your mouth taste bad, your head spinning like a top and your hold body feel weak, no matter what position you turn, you can never get your sweet spot.
To have a good night sleep a can of beer will do miracle, but more then that will surely won’t make a good pleasant sleep, don’t dream on it. Unless you got totally knock out?

Something I never had a problem till recently.
We never really cared about the type of beer we drank until we tried Weihenstephan and fell in love with it. Well, there comes the problem. The old lady there talks to much, we can’t stand her… if she ever reads this post I will be happy, but since she is way older than me… hah tough luck. The place is actually a wine shop in Sri hartamas but they do serve beer there.
The dilemma among my friends is to go there to have our favourite beer or back to just pubs nearby the uptown damansara utama area. I still have not made my stand yet. What say you?
711! Yes, 711 is another place often visited by anyone at night. There are only two things one would buy from 711 during midnight… snacks, beer, condom, beer and condom. Well we are not so lucky everyday so we buy beer and chill out there with a RAMLI BURGER… Malaysia’s fast food at its best. They even have a good choice of beer, like carlsberg, tiger, anchor even bintang and bud all at a slightly higher price. However there are drawbacks… there will be roaches, lizards and even sick stray cats lying around. What a place. Again, when you are broke and wish to drink at a place without smoke, 711 would be our choice!

BEST SERVED STOUT… I vote for The vogue @ Damansara Utama. Fantastic stout there, but it gets smoky, loud music and weird people there. Nevertheless, when the Guinness stout washes your mouth, you will say to the bartender… good job. I do not think many people can pour such a nice pint. Truly different from the others.
Anyway after having a few days reviewing about beer and beer …. i would stick with beer and not the place so… CHEERS TO ALL THE BEER… F*** the old lady, f*** the smoke… and cheers!
